Speech and Language

Hello My Name Is...

Ms. Callihan

I am the speech-language pathologist here at West Lee. I believe communication is power! My goal is to help my students gain independence by increasing their ability to express themselves and understand what others are trying to communicate to them.

I am originally from Kentucky (Go CATS!), but I have lived in South Carolina for most of my adult life.  I earned a B.S. in Biology and Psychology from USC in 2007.  After graduation, it took about a year to figure out my calling was speech-language pathology. I returned to USC and earned a M.S.P. in Communication Sciences and Disorders in 2011. I have been working to help others find power through communication ever since.

I enjoy traveling to new places near and far. Most recently, I took a road trip down the Pacific Coast from Seattle to San Diego.  It was fascinating to explore the forests, coastline, and marine life. Being surrounded by nature is my favorite way to unwind. I am a bit of a science nerd at heart. I even named my dog D. Helix, after the structure of DNA. He will turn 5 years old this Fall and enjoys exploring with me whenever he gets the chance.
